Home again, home again, jiggety jig.

A sign on the road. Home. I’m home. Of course, I’m leaving again tomorrow morning, but still, the thought counts. I flew in to PDX on Monday, saw the folks, my aunt, my cousins, and my dog (not necessarily in that order). It’s a bit odd being home in August—it’s right in the middle of that awkward time of year here where everything has finally turned yellow and brown and dry, and there are black burns in the field grass on the side of the freeway, and you can tell how rich someone is by how green their grass is. Dry, drier, driest. All just in time for the rains of September.

My car--the front. I’m actually coming home to get my car. When we leave tomorrow (my parents and I), we’ll be driving across the northern states from Vancouver, WA to Chicago, IL, by way of Three Lakes, WI. In all, about ~36 hours of driving to Three Lakes, then another 6 to Chicago. My dad plans to take us by the places where he grew up, around Fargo, ND and Eau Claire, WI. Upon arriving in Chicago, I’ll take a few days to tidy up some loose strings at the Tower Yearbook office, then move the rest of my stuff up north. My parents will be turning around and heading west on the California Zephyr. All this for me to get a car back to Wisconsin, where I will now be working and residing. My car--the back.

So, that’s the state of my world. You might have noticed this entry is New and Improved with pictures, thanks to my fancy schmancy new el cheapo digital camera. I like to pretend that the presentation is snooty and artsy, but really it’s just covering up all the artefacts from the lousy 1.3 megapixels and the super-extendo-lossy jpeg compression. :) Anyway, have a nice day.
