The colophon.

The 2003 Tower is a product of the blood, sweat, and occasional tears of a select band of Wheaton students, each a volunteer in his or her own right. Even if some of them did get paid a bit.

The 2003 Tower was laid out on an Apple Macintosh 733 Mhz PowerPC G4 named Frodo and a 400 Mhz PowerPC G4 named Samwise, both running OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) and Adobe Pagemaker 6.5 (in the Classic Environment), using Jostens’ 2003 Yeartech plugin package, with alternate prayers and curses. This is a volatile combination, and should not be attempted without adult supervision.

In-house photography was taken with a variety of cameras, including a Canon 1-N, Canon Elan II, Canon Rebel G, and a Vietnam-era Pentax K1000, all using Kodak Professional TMax film. Negatives were directly scanned using a Nikon LS-2000 negative scanner and an Epson Perfection 1600 Photo flatbed scanner with a negative rack. Contributed prints were scanned with the Epson. All in-house and contributed photos were processed and corrected before placement using Adobe Photoshop 7.0. Sudent portraits were taken and processed by the fine people at Marshall’s Photography of Chicago, Illinois.

Copy was composed in a variety of environments, often with a No. 2 pencil on various weights and stocks of paper. It all ended up compiled and edited using an Apple Macintosh 300 Mhz PowerPC G3 named Bilbo with OS X 10.2 (Jaguar), Microsoft Word:mac v.X, a 21″ monitor that turns blue when you hit it, and a keyboard with a sticky “N” key and misplaced home row dots.
