Volcanoes and news.
Mount St. Helens is erupting again, and for the second time in my life, I’m missing it. The first time, I was in the womb. This time, I’m not sure what my excuse is. Hearing familiar acronyms of the local news agencies–KATU, KOIN–brings an odd sense of homesickness, like a missing limb that should be there but isn’t any more. I wish I were there right now.

i saw it! for two minutes. ha ha :-)
trust me, it was nothing spectacular from the portland area. you saw just as much of it in illinois as I did nearly at the foot of the scene of the crime.
